A better way to horse around
Learn more about how we operate.
Our focus is on relationship-centered horsemanship rather than competition. While you will develop valuable skills that can enhance your riding, our approach emphasizes connection over competitive performance.
While our approach is therapeutic in nature and can promote healing and personal growth, we're not licensed mental health practitioners. Our services are educational and focused on horsemanship and personal development.
Safety is a top priority. We adhere to strict safety protocols, including proper equipment and attire (e.g., helmets for riders under 18, appropriate footwear). Our horses are carefully selected and trained for their roles.
Additionally, a connected horse is a much safer horse than a shut down or coerced horse. In everything we do with the horse, our goal is always connection.
Unlike traditional horsemanship, which often emphasizes control and compliance, our approach prioritizes the relationship between horse and human. We focus on mutual respect, trust, and cooperation, using the least amount of pressure necessary. Our methods are trauma-informed and science-based, avoiding coercion or force, and tailored to meet the unique needs of each horse and rider.
Unlike natural horsemanship, which often seeks compliance (although through relatively gentle methods) and behavior extinction, our approach prioritizes building genuine connection through cooperation. Our method is also a trauma-informed, science-based understanding of each horse.
Horses and humans experience trauma that can disconnect the vital parts of our brains responsible for emotion, survival, and rational thinking. Trauma lives in our bodies and often can't be healed through words alone. Horses, too, carry their own traumas, affecting their behavior and ability to trust.
Nonverbal communication with horses give us the space to heal together. This shared journey helps restore the broken connections within our brains, and heals us without words.
Our relationship-centered approach with horses doesn't just heal and connect within the arena — it enriches your life beyond the barn.
Engaging in powerful, nonverbal communication with horses helps you become more attuned to your inner state and emotions. You can check in with yourself more effectively, helping you navigate life's challenges with greater resilience.
This enhances your ability to manage emotions, communicate effectively, and build stronger relationships with others.
